The Adam Institute invites you to join us for an engaging course on feminism and democracy, taught to people from around the globe on ZOOM.
This is the second course being taught this fall. The course comprises six two-hour sessions in English. The meetings will be held on Sundays in late afternoon/early evenings (Europe/Israel) and mornings for participants from the East and West Coast of the USA and Canada.
About:
The Coronavirus pandemic has thrust us all into turbulent times, grappling with common tropes of uncertainty, fear and survival. The pandemic’s influence across the board underscores yet again the status of women around the world as vulnerable, both when life runs business-as-usual as well as during states of emergency.
Over recent decades, the Feminist Revolution scored many achievements. Nevertheless, these days of crisis remind us anew that the path to gender equality still has a long way to go. Our previous successes remain supremely fragile.
Concurrently, we see that countries run by women have managed this pandemic with incredible results; the reasons for their success could advance the entire world.
At the Adam Institute for Democracy and Peace, we view this pandemic as an important opportunity to contemplate and learn: to address the founding principles of the feminist movement, examine the changes needed at this fateful hour, and consider how we might reshape our reality.
The course will be taught via interactive workshops, employing AI’s signature prize-winning method, “Betzavta – the Adam Institute’s Facilitation Method“, taught by the creator Dr. Uki Maroshek-Klarman. In between workshops, participants will be given lectures on relevant topics.
Participants will study existing methods in feminism and have the opportunity to examine experientially their stances on key issues and central dilemmas that are part and parcel of the feminist movement today.
Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the course. This certificate will allow graduates of the “Betzavta” training to facilitate this course to other groups; for those who are new to our innovative method, this course will provide a window into the subject matter and process and allow for joining our group facilitation courses taught around the world in various countries and languages, including English, Arabic, Hebrew, German and Polish.
This educational approach allows for experts in the field a new experience in clarifying the basic issues and principles in feminism.
Course topics include:
- What is the meaning of “gender equality”?
- What is the meaning of the concept “the personal is political”, and how can this idea be promoted or advanced?
- Women in the workforce and work from a feminist perspective
- Motherhood, boys and girls in the feminist world
- What is feminist politics?
- What kinds of democratic models can be developed by feminist women?
